CHARTERED 2002

Presidents Welcome

Hello!  Welcome to the website of Wilton Rotary.  Hopefully, you’ve come here seeking information about our Rotary club or to get an idea of what Rotary does.  While we have a good time working together, not only as fellow Rotarians but as friends; we always keep in mind the impact that our efforts have both locally and around the globe.

Rotary began as a single club founded in Chicago in 1905.  Since that time, Rotary has steadily expanded to include over 33,000 clubs in over 200 countries worldwide.  Wilton Rotary was chartered in 2002 and is part of District 7190 in upstate New York.  Our Rotary holds a variety of events during the year.  Whether it is our annual golf tournament held at Airway Meadows, our annual S’Mores and Stories children’s event held at Gavin Park, or jumping into Lake George on New Year’s Day; our members are always working hard to raise funds for an array of efforts.

Locally, we support Wilton youth sports programs, scouting projects, the Wilton Food Pantry, Operation Adopt-A-Soldier, the Christopher Dailey Foundation, the Saratoga Children’s Museum, and much more.  Through international cooperative efforts Rotarians work to improve life on a global level as well.  The Pure Water for the World project brings low-cost filtration devices to areas where no clean drinking water sources are available.  The Gift of Life Foundation brings children in need of life saving surgery to the United States so that they may have the chance at a life that would, otherwise, have been lost.  Via the Shelterbox program, Rotarians provide rapid deployment of tents and necessities in an individual package to any area of the world ravaged by natural disaster.  Through the Rotary Foundation, all Rotarians work toward the day when the word “polio” will become a word defined in medical history books, no longer afflicting the world’s children.  These are not all the programs and projects to which Wilton Rotary members have given their commitment, but it certainly provides an impressive resume as to the definition of what we are about.

I feel that we have the best of many things in Wilton and the surrounding areas.  We have a quality of life that almost all who visit envy.  I’m looking for those who feel that now is the time to give back to the community that surrounds us.  One of Rotary’s missions is to find people who have a strong conviction to spread back upon others the blessings which we have been given.  Perhaps you are that person.  If you believe in neighbors helping neighbors, strangers helping strangers, and certainly friends helping friends; then you would make an excellent Wilton Rotarian.  Rotary’s motto for this year is “The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands.”  Well, the future of Wilton is in yours.  If you feel that you bring this type of vision and enthusiasm to the table, then come help us make Wilton, and the world, a better place for everyone.
